Right now the words that are in my mouth are: barcelona has made my dream come true. We arrived here on the 7th of November and the weather was just beautiful.
After breakfast we went out and tried to find our way into the city. This is only by metro. Which we have totally mastered and have fallen in love with. Its the ideal form of transportation. You can get anywhere you want without traffic and most of the time it arrives early. We found the metro but the sign at the hostel said we had to go to canyelles. So we went there and asked where Picasso was to some guards. All of the guards looked at us with tilted heads and laughed. We were way on the out skirts of barcelona. Yeah it was just grand. They gave us new directions of which metro line to take and we made it to the Picasso museum.
The museum was eye openening and very interesting. Its weird to think his widow was still alive in 1984. Picasso believed he could be someone and kept every single sketch and penciling he made. His house la Californi was a museum in itself and layered with cavases.
There was a journalist who became good friends with Picasso and pictures that were taken were on display. He looked like a very joyful man who truely wanted his art to speak to people. I mean you've all seen his art.
After getting our bit of culture we wandered around. We were walking through the chinese knock off stalls. When suddenly I peered to my right. Through the people i saw the big dome structure. Thats when the gates to heaven opened up. I saw all the cured meat my heart could ever want hanging from little strings in a small stall. You could barely see the person behind. Even after seeing this it gets better!
Behind that stall was a massive market. Selling everything from ducks and rabbits with their feathers and fur still on them, to fruit smoothies. I have always been a foodie and watched all these top chefs going to these markets. Now it was my turn. We tried as much as we could. We had Empanadas, pure strawberry fruit juice, salted cod and then fried into little balls, tried figs for the first time and loved them. Mikah said that i looked like a kid in a candy store on the picture we took inside. I was super content living in there and never leaving. Once again words cannot describe how much of an incredible experience this was.
After I ripped myself from this market. As I was spending to much money in here. We went walking through the little side streets looking for little spanish shops. But instead we found a roof top spanish bar. Which is much better if I may say so. We had a yummy Sangria, while enjoying the sun shine.
That was that.
Best day ever!
Xx from spain
