Our only day in Rome was pretty awesome. We decided to just do as much as we can in this one day. This was surprisingly hard when youre on a budget and everything costs €10,00 to get into.
The man at the Hostel had told us about things to do around here. Which all sounded amazing until we had seen the prices. 10 euros here 15 there. It was just to ridiculous. While walking around to all these places to check them out we noticed the beautiful scenery. Cobble stone roads. Massive 5 story high stone buildings on either sides of us. Colorful window sills and shutters. This city is absolutely stunning and my favorite so far.
Walking around we came by Ponte Vecchio. This was a bridge totally surrounded by what looked like two or three stories of houses build on it. When we actually managed to walk on it it was full of jewelers. The whole bridge was a mall for jewelers. Amazing walking through this. You also felt very safe cause ofcourse there was police everywhere.(I actually felt safe in all of florence, probably mostly cause we didnt have a purse) This bridge was from the 1300s and still standing!
The people are also very nice. A non english speaking old man came up to us pointed us in the right direction. He somehow knew what we were talking about. The italian people really make you feel at ease and want you yo enjoy their country. Except for maybe the greasy italian market men. Just cause you say you love my hair I wont buy anything from you. Just because I point at something cause its nice , it doesnt mean that I want special price. When I walk past and you say we are gorgeous it doesn't mean I am going to stop and look at your knock off gucci purses. It makes me want to get away from you. Sorry a little rage there..
When we finally decided we had to do something today we did the piazza duomo and piazza Giovanni. This was a massive cathedral which you could go into. Its only 10 euros for the entire building. This also included climbing 432 steps upto the top to see the breath taking view of the massive city. Yes all you can see is orange roof tiles but the castles, mountains and sun down really add a little something to all the orange. Just look at the pictures!
We also went to accamedia where Michaelangelos david was located. Unfortunately we werent allowed to take any pictures in the museum. But the paintings were amazing and the renovations on them barely noticeable. David was also very wonderful. If you know what he wears every day you would agree.. (all he wears is his sling on his back) I have seen way to many penises today. Even while I was enjoying my brushetta I had 4 around me. Anyway enough about that..
During the day when we would walk around we would obviously get lost. Big city with lots of alleys. Somehow it was very easy to get back to the cathedral. This cathedral was so massive that almost all the roads seemed to lead to it. It was ideal! Especially cause our awesome emerald fields hostel was close to it!
We then went out for some dinner. Wandered around for an hour trying to look for a hole in the wall italian restaurant. But guess who didnt find one and got to hungry so decided to spend 28 euros on some past and wine.. yeah us. So ridiculous! We have learned our lesson. No more eating in the city centre, have chinese or something instead.
Well goodnight I might be dreaming about David tonight and his well sculpted body, with every muscle and vein shown... snore*
