This was the first day that we actually had a healthy breakfast. Granola with yoghurt, plum and orange juice. Amazing compared to what we have been having; tiny glass of sugared fake orange juice, two pieces of white toast, jam made out of pure sugar and a tiny cup of tea. After our awesome breakfast we waited for our guides, because we wanted to do the 'free' walking tour.
The tour was awesome and the guides were two sisters from Columbia who were super funny and entertaining. We went past the Opera House and the Grand Palace in Madrid which was the second largest in europe. It was interesting but I wish more was told. We thought this tour was totally free. But this is where they get you. At the end of the tour they make you feel guilty by telling you that they have to pay bills and theres a crisis in spain etc. They will come around and get money from each person. I understand that they need to get paid for it but dont say free if you get guilted into giving money. We gave 5 euros from Mikah and I together. Other people gave 10 from one person. But we simply cant afford to do that.
After the tour we got shown a Tapas bar and we had tapas with some lovely girls we met from China. Traditional Paella and cuddlefish with salad. They were both cooked beautifully. Knowing mikah and I we forgot our map and Erika our guide was gone already we had to find our way back. All the streets look practically the same with garbage everywhere. But we found it! We went back to the hostel and bummed around in the commons room.
We met a girl named Anna who is studying in Madrid but is originally from the US. She was super and introduced us to two dutch boys. I found my first dutch people in a hostel! I am slightly to exited about this. With all the activities going on at the hostel we joined the drinking games. Spanish style kings cup. Everyone we have met plays that game different. In Rome with wine and in Spain with Sangria. I think we had sangria every day, when you're on vacation it doesnt matter if its 11 am on a Tuesday.
After the drinking games we bought a couple of beers from the hostels and hung around and met awesome people. It was 2 o'clock in the morning and music was still blaring and everyone was outside hanging around. The night was very fun and its nice to not spend 12 euros on a pub crawl. Cheap cheap cheap that's what we are.
Even though we didn't see a lot of sights in Madrid in our one day there it was still very nice to just relax. I mean thats what vacation is all about.
The Way Hostel in Madrid was the best hostel so far. It was super clean, we slept under Ikea sheets, there was tons of activities and the staff was amazingly helpful and wonderful. Maybe best of all it wasn't expensive. We paid 55 euros for two nigbts for two people. I am so glad we found this place and recommend others to book here too. You also have to have more then one day in Madrid. At least 3 full days. There's just so much to see.
Grazias for reading
