Thats right mikah and I tackled London today. We took the train and even the tube! (Thats what they call the underground metro here).
While we thought we had set an alarm for the morning it did not go off unfortunately so we only had half an hour to get ourselves straightened out. We then went on the train and went to London. We arrived there and we already completely lost trying to find which exit to take so we decided to just take the tube to covent garden. A big maze. We walked down a gazillion steps and went down a super long escalator. Call me weird but everyone here is so thoughtful. On the escalator everyone has to be on the right side. In order to let others who are in a rush to pass. How smart is this? Anyway we made it safely to our first stop and were able to ger back onto normal ground. We walked and walked and finally found Trafalgar square. We couldnt believe we were in London but most of all that we weren't lost. Coincidentally we came by the Parliament buildings and witnessed the 12'oclock watch switch. It wasn't something I couldn't explain in just words. We then continued to walk on and found Big Ben and the rest of the Parliament buildings. Then we went to go see the London eye, which we didnt go on cause it was just to expensive. Yeah were on a budget here.
At this point we were starving from all of the walking around. We then decided to want to find a pub for lunch.. and of course we had the fish and chips with a pint. Absolutely delicious if I may say so.
We tried to plan out a little more of our day but the fish and chips just got so in the way that not much of that got done. So Of course we had to kind of figure that out after so we walked and walked, saw cute shops and kicked ourselves in the butt to not buy anything. Which we succeeded in! And walked some more. Finally we found the British Museum, where we wandered around the ''sex and pleasure in Japanese art'' exhibition. This place was absolutely massive, it appeared as if it was a great coliseum with the great big cement and granite boulders with massive pillars coming down from the ceilings. All covered with a mesh of glass triangles. And all of this costed us nothing for entry fees. I couldn't believe it.
We sat in good ol' star bucks for about an hour cause me being sick and all, I couldn't walk anymore. I got up the might and we walked to the closest underground and took that back to waterloo. And then the train back into Martins Haron and then home.
Frustrated as we were we managed to book the Eurail pass and also two flight tickets to Dublin Ireland.
